About the program

The NewAccess Program is not a Crisis Service.  NewAccess is an early intervention program designed to provide FEE, easily accessible, quality service for people with low to moderate anxiety and depression.  The service is provided by phone, telehealth or Face-to-Face depending on availability and location.  Clients must reside within the Western and Far Western NSW PHN, be over 12 years of age and currently not accessing mental health support i.e. Psychologist, to be eligible for this program.

There are 6 focused sessions over 6 weeks with an assigned coach.  The initial assessment (Week 1) is up to 60 minutes.  This is when the client will talk through and identify problems they may be experiencing right now and the coach will help set goals for the client to work towards.  Once these goals have been set the coach will forward resources and workbooks to the client, for guided self-help.  NewAccess coaches are trained in Low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  This is a structured, evidence-based treatment that allows people to recognise the way they think, act and feel.  The following 5 weeks will have 30 minute sessions where the client will work with their coach on a program tailored to the individual's challenges and work through their problem statement.  At the end of the 6 sessions, the coach will follow-up with the client at 1, 3 and 6 monthly intervals.
